Bill Clinton’s Vegan Alkaline Diet Weight Loss

bill clinton alkaline dietThe former President Bill Clinton, 65, who had quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and then stent surgery in 2010, is following an acid/alkaline vegan diet eating plan to improve his heart health. He says he eats fruits, vegetables and beans, but no red meat, chicken or dairy.

We know him for his love of burgers, barbecue and junk food. Is the former president on an alkaline diet? He has gone from a meat lover to a vegan, the strictest form of a vegetarian diet. That’s a radical transformation.

He talked about his plant-based (which is rich in phytonutrients) diet last year, saying he lost 24 pounds on it for his daughter Chelsea’s wedding, and he chatted about it again recently on TV, drawing national attention to the potential health benefits of this type of diet. Read more here.

In an interview with CNN Bill Clinton talked about his plant-based, vegan diet and recent weight loss.

“I live of off beans, legumes, vegetables and fruits. It has completely changed my metabolism. I’ve lost 24 lbs and I weigh about what I did in high school,” says Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton says his diet does not include any meat or dairy. Clinton drinks a glass of almond milk mixed with fruit and a protein powder supplement every morning.

What made him go vegan? Clinton has read many books on the topic, including books by T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. Dean Ornish.
